Podiatry & Orthotics
Podiatry
Podiatrists are healthcare professionals who have been trained to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Following an accident it may possible that referral to a podiatrist is recommended for either treatment of an injury within the foot or for gait analysis and the possible fitting of orthotics. Physiotherapists and podiatrists may often work together in rehabilitation teams.
Orthotics
The TraumaCare team has the necessary ecetince to arrange referrals and manage podiatry and orthotic fitting. Costs can be greater than some claim handlers may perhaps expect so we understand the importance of transparency and openness in estimating costs.
Orthoses are inserts placed into footwear to help realign the foot and restore the biomechanic balance to legs and feet and realign posture. Orthoses can be supplied either ‘off the shelf’ or custom made according the patient’s needs. The podiatrist will usually carry out gait analysis to help determine the need and most suitable orthoses for the patient.
