Children Injuries
Treating children requires additional care and consideration. Not only does the child need specialist care and support but the parents or guardians must also be very much considered in the rehabilitation process. Arranging treatment can present many practical difficulties within family settings and it requires careful and sensitive management by the rehabilitation provider. On a practical level our team is trained to deal with such matters as consent to treatment including Gillick competency.
Treatment practitioners (both physical and psychological) must have the additional specialist skills and training to provide safe and effective treatment. Treatments (physical and psychological) suitable for adults may not be effective for children, or even harmful.
The TraumaCare team has the expertise and experience to arrange the specialist care children need and to support parents. Our Clinical Director has over 15 years specialist paediatric treatment experience for in-house specialist knowledge.
