Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) known as Shockwave Therapy involves passing short and intense sound waves into damaged tissues. This increases blood flow to help stimulates the repair and regeneration process. The treatment is thought to put cells into ‘repair mode’ to encourage the body to restart its own healing process.

Shockwave Therapy may be provided within hospitals and specialist clinics and may be provided by doctors and physiotherapists with specialist training.

The TraumaCare team are experienced in referring and managing Shockwave Therapy treatment.
